Doodle4Google California - First Day at Crash Pad

We arrived later in the afternoon at Palo Alto, California.  Google booked all the participants to stay in Sheraton Hotel, it is  near the huge Stanford University.  Upon arrival at the airport, someone with a Doodle4Google sign was waiting for us.  He drove us  to the hotel.  We registered at the reception area they call "Crash Pad".
We were surprised to learned that all four of us can participate to the  events on the second day which was really nice of Google.  The luncheon was supposed to be attended by the participant and one adult only bu-t they let all the family members participate on it as well.
When we finished doing what we had to do at the registration, we checked in and put away our stuff in the room and came back down at the Crash Pad.
Refreshment and snacks were served as we get acquainted with the other participants and family members.
Here's the little miss painting the  state-carved wood with the other  older participants.
She was kind of timid at first but since the other participants are  very nice, she felt comfortable later on a blended right in.
I am  so glad that we were able to afford to pay for me and my son's  travel as he enjoyed it as much as his sister did.
As a state winner, our daughter won a trip for two to California.  My husband said that we should all go so  our son could experience it too.  As much as I would like to object because of the expense, I went with my husband idea because I wanted to be there for our daughter as well.
She painted  her state with Rhododendron.
Please stay tuned for more exciting part of our trip.  I am still  feeling the jet lag and this is what I could post for now.  Thank you all for the support, for casting your vote for her Doodle.  We definitely had a great time out there in California.  Thanks Google for the awesome event!

Affordable Care

I have seen a lot of rants about the new health care system and I feel bad for those family who lost their coverage because they can't afford it.  Affordable Care Act  is not really affordable to some and I think that it isn't fair.  If you ever need  help in finding  a health insurance coverage, you can check out at the  http://www.nchealthagency.com/ website.  I am sure that they have helpful information that could really shed some light on what you need to get an affordable coverage.

Senator Manchin's Representative's Visit

I got a call from the school this morning while I was busy cleaning and gathering the stuff that I have to pack for our trip to California. The school informed me that the representative from Senator Manchin's Office is in school. I know that somebody is coming but I did not know when. My daughter forgot to tell me last Friday but glad I was able to come and take some photos hehehe.
With Ms. Mary Jo Guidi, Regional Coordinator from Senator Joe Manchin.
With Mrs. Carol Lammers (class teacher), Mr. Al Boniti (School Principal), and Ms. Mary Jo Guidi, (Regional Coordinator from the office of Mr.  Joe Manchin, United States Senator of West Virginia).

Ms. Guidi congratulated and wished Ms. Burrito good luck! We are leaving this week to attend the  awarding ceremony at the Google Flex in Mountain View California.  Wish us luck!
I was so unprepared because I was very busy at home, I did not even took shower wahhh. Oh well, at least I did not miss it and was able to capture  the precious moment.  Alrighty, back to packing now.  See you  all next week!

Wonderful Parade of Beautiful Clothing

If you ever wonder where you can find a wonderful parade of beautiful clothing for Moms and daughters, Matilda Jane is the perfect place to explore. They have so many colorful and beautiful designs of clothes for girls and women.  They sent me the good pup cardigan, merry go round tank top, and Tabitha skit in size 8 for review.
My daughter was  delighted upon seeing the   outfit that  was waiting for her to try on when she came home from school.  She is my partner in crime when it comes to shopping and doing  girl-stuff like trying on clothes and taking  photos.  The size 8 is a little bigger for her but it's okay as she can still use them till next year.  I told her to gain a little weight because she is so skinny.  At 8 years old, she is only weighing 48 pounds, her goal is to get up to 50 pounds at least.
The material used  by Matilda Jane Clothing  is really high quality. They feel good  and they are sewn really good.  They are sophisticated and would  really make your  little girl smile from ear to ear.  As you can see, my model is having such a great time sporting the three pieces of  clothing that Matilda Jane have sent us.
She said that she will be using the skirt and the tank top when we go to California next week for the  Doodle4Google awarding ceremony.  We don't know yet if she will be  on the top five of the 50 finalists but no matter what the result of the public voting was, it is all good as it was a great experience for her.

  • The Good Pup Cardigan cost $48, a perfect one to have if you are a furr-baby lover like us.  It has a rainbow striped sleeve and ric rac detail.  She even  love the buttons used to this funky  and stylish cardigan.
  • The Tabitha skirt cost $50.  She love the different colors used on this skirt, the layers are fun and sassy!  This kind of skirt is great to use  for mix and matching different tops.
  • The Merry Go Round Tank cost $30.  The  fabric used on this  tank top is thicker than you would normally find in a tank top.  It is thick and  very soft.

Matilda Jane can definitely put  big smiles on any girls face wearing their clothes.  They are high quality and you can tell  how they meticulously plan and work on every design.  It is so nice to find clothing that are made of high quality materials  where  the  craftmanship is evident.
Matilda Jane is so generous that they are giving one of our lucky readers a chance to buy  their clothing through a giveaway in this blog.  I will send you the $50 gift card once the  giveaway is over.  All you have to do is enter below.

a Rafflecopter giveaway Thanks a lot Matilda Jane for the opportunity you've given us in working with you!

My Mommy: A True Story

Hello everybody! I have an agreement with my Mom that I will not do blogging while the school is going on but on few special occasions, I asked her if I could do it. Thankfully, she let me just like today. I wanted to post this book that I made in my Art class in school. It is about My Mommy.
The outline was provided to us  by our art teacher and it is up to us what we would write in it about our Mom.  I will let you read what I wrote through the pictures.  By the way, this is the first time I uploaded the pictures.  My Mom showed me how to do it before.
My Mom did not want me to post this but I want to because she was carrying the mini purse I made for her on Mother's day.  I would like to  take this opportunity to  thank  my Mom for everything that she does for me and my brother.  I could  not ask for  a better Mom, she is the BEST!
I also would like to thank all of YOU who voted for my Doodle4Google entry.  It has been a great experience.  IT would be  nice if I could win  because my school would benefit from it too.

Happy Mother's day to all the Moms and  to the best MOM in the world, my own MOM!

Mayor's Award during the #Doodle4Google Assembly

On April 30th, Google representatives from New York and California came to St. Joseph to reveal Ms. Burrito's official entry  for the Doodle4Google contest this year.  Among the 250 entries from West Virginia, her entry was the one chosen by Google to represent the state.
It was a really nice assembly that the school and Google have put together to honor the little Miss.  Below are the Google reps giving an introduction.
The Mayor of Weirton, also came  and gave Ms. Burrito  the City of Weirton, Mayor's Award.
I thought that it was really nice of the Mayor to come and celebrate with us on her special day.
It was very touching that he knelt down on his knees when he presented the award to our daughter.
He told the little Miss that very few people get that special award.
Thank you very much Mayor Kondik for making this  special event  extra memorable!
The proud 3rd graders at St. Joe's!
A special thanks to the dedicated  people of the school for  doing all the work to make this special event possible.   From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!
