Volleyball Season 2021

Another volleyball season has ended.  Our daughter played both for the Junior varsity and the varsity team.  I am glad that she had fun and gained more experience as a team player.  I am going to miss watching her play when she finished high school.
Volleyball is fun to watch.  I am glad that she wasn't working yet when the season is going on because it would be hard for her.
I am glad she had a fun season.  We had fun watching too except those far places that they had to  go to play.

She told us that she won't be playing sports in college but I'm hoping that she would play volleyball even in college.
Anyway, this season was so much fun to watch.  She definitely improved her serves.  This is her second season.  I think she regretted that she didn't  play during her freshman year.
Madonna High School's varsity team is losing 5 seniors next season so hopefully, there would be  more that would join.  They almost won the city championship, it was a very close game.

Sadie’s Dance and Her Firsts

The Sadie’s Dance was cancelled due to the growing cases of Omicron and few numbers of sign up but the kids have already picked out their outfits so they had a get together to make up for the lost fun.

Our daughter is definitely growing into a woman.  She had her very first date on March 5th with this guy who is taking her to the prom.  Since, they don't really talk much in school, they need to get to know each other before the dance to break the awkwardness.  It's an exciting phase of her life so we find it funny seeing her giddy when she talks.  Hubby and I trust our daughter so we didn't see the need for a chaperone on her first date.  Anyway, they were suppose to go bowling in our area but the one they planned to go to was close and the one in downtown has an hour wait so they drove to Toronto and bowled there instead.

Last Sunday, March 6th, we went to the Cathedral of St. Joseph and attended a collaborated reflection event by the catholic schools in the Upper Ohio Valley.  It was nice watching  the young generation come together through praise and songs.

Food and drinks were served after the event.
We actually went there thinking it was just a regular mass where our daughter has to read petition but it was actually more like a play.
I'm glad our daughter is not afraid to volunteer in this kind of activities because we get to experience it too.
A lot of things have happened but never get to jot it down.  Our daughter started working a part time job at a fast food chain on February 23rd.  She missed to watch her brother's  city championship basketball game but she was excited to work for her very first job experience.
My husband was against her working but I think she needs to experience this.  It's the only way she'll get a full understanding of real life situation by experiencing it first hand.  I mean, I put myself through high school and college by being a working student and it taught me a lot.
She's still have a long way to go but I hope that she will be able to find a career path that would make her happy and stable.

She's a pressure player so she does well when she's super busy.  Now that volleyball season is over, she coaches the little kids volleyball team at St. Joseph.  she's also tutoring a Korean student online.  I am so proud of a young lady she is becoming.  She knows her priorities and she's super goal oriented.

West Virginia Warriors Team - Summer Volleyball Elite

During the summer, the volleyball coach from my daughter's school formed a  team to participate in the Pittsburgh Volleyball Elite teams.  This is the first time that the  school have done it so the girls were a bit nervous but it was a great opportunity for them to experience and participate to.  They actually did  really well, they lost some games but it was to be expected since those teams have been playing there every summer.
They called their team West Virginia Warriors.  They were a bit intimidated going into the first game since they did not  know what to expect but after  they broke through their  nervousness, they were fine.  They were the only team from West Virginia.  I guess the coach knew someone from the Pittsburgh Volleyball Elite  so he asked if we could participate.
It was a great summer practice for them, it became the continuation of their  season from the 7th grade.  It was also a great transition for their team to their 8th grade's volleyball season which just ended this month.
On their last game, an alumnus from Madonna High School who knows one of our coaches sponsored the team for an after-the-game picnic at Edgeworth Club in Sewickley, PA.  It was a beautiful country club with  great amenities such as tennis court and swimming pool.
These photos were taken after they swam and had dinner.
It was nice of the  doctor who sponsored this event.  Everyone had fun  including us, parents who attended it.

This year's volleyball season has just ended. They had lost games and also won some but hopefully they all learned skills so they would be able top play in High School. My daughter plan to continue playing if she meets the requirement. She love this sport, it's the only one that she plays.

Successful Volleyball Season

Yes, we are finally off  from school!!!  I am so excited to spend time home and  write some blog posts which I am only allowed on summer time when I am off from school.  This summer, I have something to look forward to, my tennis practise and decorating my own room, yes!  I can't wait till my parents are done working on the house so we can move in.  For the meantime, I am posting  the last two volleyball games that we had.  On May 3rd, we had  a game against  one of our own team, we played against the blue team which we won, sorry blue team!

Then on May 5th, it was the gamer I was dreading because we were playing against  the team from St. Paul school.  They won against the blue team last time so I was kind of scared.  Mom and Dad kept telling me that we will be fine but I was still  scared.
Anyway, we had our pictorials before we  played against two teams from the  said school.  That was kind of a great thing that we had the pictorials because it relieved my stress a little bit.  We had time to goof around and  shook off our nerves.
I never thought I would enjoy working with a team but I actually do, maybe because I love volleyball.  I like doing individual stuff but with volleyball, I love  working with my team mates.  Mom and Dad are right that I would develop sportsmanship playing this sport.  Teamwork rocks!
As it turned out, we were lucky to won both games.  We were the undefeated team  this season.  Thanks to our great coaches who never failed to encourage us to be better.  I don't think our coaches get paid  for doing this so I admire and respect them for dedicating their time in  teaching us.  Coaches Doug and Julie are the best!
Here are some more of the photos that my Mom  took.
I am looking forward to another  volleyball season next school year, I can't wait.  I am glad that  I have another  sport that I am beginning to love, tennis.  Piano lesson is also my regular activity this summer.  We just had our  recital yesterday and I will have to post about that next time.  Thank you for reading.
