Fun Surprise and a Great Book for Kids

In mid-September our  friend     invited us to a surprise party for their  two daughters.  It was also a surprise for our  kids because  we did not told them that we were attending a  birthday party of their friends.  We have done this before and  they  were completely surprised  that we  pulled a trick on them.  This time, we  said that we will  see if the girls would  like to come and play tennis with us and they  were  excited about it.  When we got there, they saw some  kids in their classes getting off their car and they immediately got the message.

I admire their Mom for  getting this  surprise party a secret because I am sure could not pull it off  if I were her lol.  They created a diversion for the girls, they were at  their friend's house until the party   is ready to  start with all their friends there waiting for them.  It was funny seeing their reaction.
It's awesome when you have a swimming pool in your backyard because it is a great entertainment for the kids.  My kids didn't know that I packed them their swimsuits but  they were delighted when I handed them the beach bag containing  what they need to join the fun.
It was really a fun surprise for everybody.  Even the adults have enjoyed the party.  Thanks to the Mascio family for inviting us over to their new  home.
I also want to share this great book that Wisdom Tales have sent me for my kids to read and reflect  on.  It is called Talking to God, it is about the list of prayers for children  from the world's religion.
An award winning  author and illustrator, Demi, shows in this book how Jews, Christians, and Muslims pray.  Also included are prayers  for Hindus, Buddhists, Taoists, and Shintoists.  There is also  prayers from African and American Indians.
I love the fact that Demi also included an appendix with notes on the  the prayers and illustrations.  She  described clearly what the prayer is about and also the illustrations.
My son's favorite  prayer are the Taoism and Shintoism.  They are short but precise, direct to the point and  very easy to understand for  little kids.
Taoism Prayer:" In dealing with others, know how to be gentle and kind" (Lao Tzu)
Shintoism Prayer :O spirits, wash away my sins from me" (Traditional Prayer)

Bert and Ernie's Loch Adventure @BuschGardens

As part of our daughter's 11th birthday celebration, we went to  Busch Gardens on Williamsburg, Virginia.  We were supposed to come here when she turned ten but our vacation got cancelled due to kennel issue cancelling  the boarding of our dog  at the last minute.  We finally got to see it this year.
We went there   a little early so mist of the attraction aren't even opened yet lol.  The very first thing that the kids tried is the Bert and Ernie's Loch adventure.  Even though it was for little kids, they  went  for it because  it was   opened.
It's amazing  to see how  children's preferences come in play even on rides.  They used to love this kind of rides but now, they act like embarrass on getting on it  because they think they are "too old" for it, lol.
The good thing about going to  an amusement park early is that, there is no lines to  get in but the   negative part is, most of the stuff aren't even operating yet lol.  I think that all parts of the park should be open when they open the  entrance.
Now that we have been in Busch Gardens, I can say that it was okay.  It wasn't as great as I was expecting it to be. The only thing I love about it is that, it is very clean!

Minion Party Kit for my Son's Birthday

My son's birthday falls on  school days so ever since he started going to school, we always  celebrate it in school with his classmates.  He asked us  if he could have a party for his 8th birthday and  hubby is considering it. I am excited that I got this Minion party kit because  this is a good  birthday theme for him as both of my kids love the movie,  Despicable Me .  The Minion Kit party  include streamers, candles, cutlery sets, plates, beverage and napkins, cups, straws, decorating kit, table cover, balloon, ribbon, banner, and hats.

These straws are super cute.  It has 24 straws in a pack which is perfect for the number of my son's classmates and friends.
I would have to buy  additional cups because one pack only has 8 cups in it.
An additional pack of hats  is also needed because there is only 8 of them in a pack and it is not enough for the number of his classmates and friends.  Luckily, I have a code to use  to enjoy a 10% discount.
There's two of this minion foil balloon.  A birthday is not complete without balloons, right?
I love this turquoise and orange crepe streamers.  You can definitely decorate a whole room with these.
There  are two set of napkins in a kit, you get the beverage napkin and the lunch napkins.  When you are serving  food for  kids, napkins  is a must have.
There are two set of plates as well, one is 7' and another is 9".  Each set has 8 plates.
The bright yellow cutlery set includes 8 forks, 8 spoons, and 8 knives.
I love that the kit includes a whole set of decorations which  would really accentuate the whole minion theme.
My son wanted to blow up this  18' foil balloon already but I told him to wait till the party lol.
The table cover  is great to have especially if we are going to serve the snack in school.  It would keep the mess off the table.
The Mini-on kit also include a roll of orange  solid curling ribbon.
The Despicable Me jointed banner would be so cool to use to  complete the  Despicable Me Decorations.  All I have to do is to order the cake and I can  stick  the candles in it and we are good to go.

I can't believe how time flies.  My son is turning 8 yeas old already in a couple of months. I am just glad that I have the opportunity to spend my time with them.  I am grateful to my husband that he supports me being a stay at home mom and he doesn't  mind that  I am stay at home mom.  Soon, my kids will be grown up and that's when the time that I will branch out.  For now, I want to focus my time  for them and my husband.

Update 1/15/1015 - today my son turned 8.  I started decorating  although the party won't be  till this Saturday.

Birthday Shopping Spree

We told our daughter that we will take her shopping for her birthday gift and she agreed.
We got her  bathing suit,  two pair of earrings, two pair of dress shoes, and a dress.
Her brother got her   a pair of floaties.
I tried  to zoom the lens to showcase her butterfly designed earrings.
Sometimes it scares me that she thinks like a 17 year old and not a 7 year old lol.
We celebrated her birthday with family at my BIL's swimming pool in  Chester.  We had a blast although it was soooo hot that day!

Play Doh Cake

Our little Miss Burrito will be turning 7 years old in a couple of months.  She made this birthday  out of her play doh.  She said that she wants her birthday cake this year to look like this.
How do you like it?
