Johnny Appleseed Day

I am sure that  people who love  apples  knows the origin of the Appleseed Day  celebration.  I just learned that when my children started going to school.  This  celebration is dedicated to a man named Jonathan  Chapman, an american pioneer nursery man who introduced  apple trees to large parts of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and West Virginia.  He became a legend and  known as Johnny Appleseed because of  his  project of planting an apple seed  everywhere he went.
Every class  has activities like making caramel apples and did some crafts.
Thanks for commenting.

Little Girl Misses Mommy

While I was waiting for the other Mommies to arrive at the school's cafeteria, I took advantage of the time by taking pictures of the arts/drawings that are posted on the wall.  The librarian at the school is also the art teacher, she is  member of an art  organization and she  always encourages  the kids to practice their talents.
My daughter told me a couple of weeks ago that the art teacher saw her sketch  and ask her if she can  use  it as exhibit in an art show.  Man, that  motivate Ms. Burrito to sketch some more.  She told me that if she should have known that it was going to be displayed, she could  have made it better.
She said that she  was just sketching this because the little girl that was in her mind was missing  her Mom.  "That's why, she looks sad" she said.

Kids at their Best

Mr. Burrito is getting serious with his study now, he realized that it is a real deal now and  he can no longer slack off  just like when I was teaching him at home.  I am glad that Ms. Burrito is very much willing to help hi little brother  learn how to read.  Here's my kids at theiir best, reading books together.
Below is their progress report.
Ms. Burritos report.
I am so surprised that he  is doing really well, he even have an outstanding  one.  I guess I underestimated   my son's  ability.

Purses and Shoes

She's only six but her love for purses and shoes is already showing.  She sees this commercials on TV  and she  would always say "I will buy that when I grow up."  The photos below were taken after church last Sunday.
She calls her savings her "Grown Up  Money".  I think she will be like me whose  a Saver and the little boy will be like his Dad, a spender.
Modeling her hello kitty  skirt and top, lunch bag, necklace, and hair bows.

Scholastic Printables

I was so happy that both of my kiddos are doing  excellent in school.  They brought home their first  progress report and  was so pleased to see their ratings.  Now, I can say that it's all wort it when I decided to teach them at home instead of sending them to school for their pre-school year.  When they entered kindergarten, they  are   ready for the challenges.  I even got a  praise from my daughter saying "You're the best teacher Mom!"  I feel good that I  taught them the basic stuff that they need to learn before they started  the "real" school.   The great thing about teaching your kids is that you can basically get materials such as  math worksheets for 4th graders online.  These tools are really helpful for an effective teaching whether at the school or at home.  Scholastic Printables offer a wide range of topics that covers  different subjects from Pre-K to 8th grade.  So if you ever  need some materials to use  in your teaching activity, check out the  link I have provided above, they have plenty of useful materials.  Below are the report cards of my kids.

Chef and Restaurateur

Ever since "Santa" gave  Ms. Burrito her kitchen set, she  has been so interested with foods.  Both of the Burritos  has been pretending to  be chefs and restaurateur.  They  set up a booth at their bedroom which they named "Space Bar".  They would  "cook" different menus using their play dough and they would invite  us to eat.    They have prices on each so we pay real money and they put their cash in their piggy banks.
Both of them are very business minded  and it always makes me and hubby smile.  Ms. Burrito love  watching Food Network.  Her favorite, which  also my favorites, are Chopped, Iron Chef America, Giada at Home, 30 minute meals, Cupcake Wars, Sweet Genius and more.
The photos above are their recent  creation  which they "served" us.

Jelly Bean Ball

We know a lot of friends and family who is celebrating birthdays this month including Kelli, Dad Jennings, Gracie, our Jack Russel Terrier dog, Champ, and Lola Ruth. THe kids made some puto during Lola Ruth's birthday and they spent some time with them.
They had a blast  playing with their exercise jelly bean ball.
I love watching my Burritos work as a team.  Thanks to Lolo for patiently  teaching the Burritos  work on their balances.
