Sibling Rivalry

Sibling rivalry is very common. My daughter was only nine months old when I got pregnant again. She got used to being our everything so when our son was born, she wasn't very happy. She was only 18 months old and it was very hard for her to accept that she had a competition to our attention.
For the most parts, she was very good to her brother but there were times that she would pinch him or bite him when she wanted attention.
It was hard for me too especially that  my family was far away, I felt like I  had twins lol.
Now that they are  bigger, sibling rivalry still exist.  It's a constant battle  that I have to deal with from time to time.
Time flies and I am glad that I got to  enjoy  motherhood in full at home.

  1. Sibling rivalry is nothing new. It seems all families go through it to some extent.

  3. Wow, these are rare photos that I only see now. Ang taba nang dalawang anak mo nung babies pa sila, hehehe. Ang taba taba ni EJ nung baby pa. I can just commiserate with you that you don't have any relatives there who can assist you in taking care of your kids. You did it all alone. And that makes it more remarkable. I have the same problem with my two youngest kids. Palagi na lang silang nagbabangayan at nagko compete to get my attention and favor. Oh kids will be kids anywhere else in the world. Missing you all. Regards to everybody. Thanks for the nostalgic post. God bless you all always.

  4. When I had my 2nd, the 1st one used to "casually" stick her foot out just as her sibling crawled or tottered by. But I saw her and she'd get it!

  11. this made me reminisce the days when we ( my brothers and I) are still young.

Sabi nga sa 'tin "kung ang dila at ngipin lagi ng magkasama sa bunganga, nagkakagatan pa"...Same with sibling rivalry, I guess it will pass as time goes by ( just like it did with my siblings and me).

please drop by my my R entry

  12. Sibling rivalry is there to stay, sabi nga. The best part is, we as parents should be there to guide our kids and teach them the value of companionship.

  13. mr and ms burritos are so cute.
As they grow every year the sibling bond will also grow and the day will come that they will just laugh on their petty kagatan and kurutan.

  14. I think most families have that sibling rivalry. Happened to me too and someone commented here "Wait 'til they're teenagers." Well, I second that! :) But it's good that you're able to put them on their places being there with them full time. Imagine the scenario if you're not home most of the time, it will be difficult to instill proper values to them if they were left to other people who would have different values and approach than yours.

  16. your kids looks so adorable! :) sibling rivalry is quite normal I guess and I know your kids will outgrow it when they're older and you're there to keep peace and give guidance

  17. I also have this rivalry with my brother when we were young. Pero as we grew up, all of those rivalries vanished suddenly. Ngayon close na kami :) For sure, your kids will be closer when they grow up someday. Especially with your guidance :)

  18. I hear you. Usually its a love fight.hehhehe.Its very common if you have 2 or more siblings and you can stop it.You're lucky you enjoy being a full time and have time to your kids.

  19. Ay ang ku-kyut naman nila when they were little, sis! They were chubby kasi! Sibling rivalry? Not a new thing at all! The most important thing is for us parents to do our parenting role the way that they wouldn't see us treating one better than the other. Parents these days know better so I'm sure your kids will be great when they're adults!

  20. Sibling rivalry is common and may at times healthy however at some point in time it needs to be resolved to be more adjusted and flexible in the social world. That's why parents had great role in parenting to make the other understand that they are both loved equally and fairly :)

  21. Ay! Didn't know that sibling rivalry existed for your Burritos, Rose. Naughty rin pala si Miss Burrito noh, hehehe! Ang taba ng pisngi ni Mr. Burroto oh! Ang sarap papakin! Hahaha!

I believe sibling rivalry will always exist especially if the age is not too far apart. It is now up to the parents on how they handle the issue. Playing fair and square on both kids is no mean feat. You're lucky you have been a homemaker all throughout and you're able to guide them all the way. Wait till they're fully grown ups, hehehe. May rivalry pa rin kaya? ;-)

  22. Yes I totally agree, i have 2 sons whose age are almost close, and I can see some issues between them since they go to same school. I know this is just a phase, us parents continually guide and talk to them to love one another and be there for their sibling.

  23. ang cute nila sa mga pictures na shinare mo, sarap kuritin, hihihi. but i agree sibling rivalry is common is every family with 2 or more kids, later on everything will be ok naman like me and my brother, dalawa lang kami, so growing-up we always have little love fight but now we are so closed. tapos my kids are 10 and 3 but still they do although they love each other most of the time plus we always treat them equal plus CJ is really understanding when it comes to Isabelle. Glad that we SAHM can take care of our kids full time, its important too. :)
